About Us
The Ashraya Initiative for Children (AIC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that runs a home for street children and a series of interwoven outreach programs designed to benefit vulnerable children and communities in Pune, India.
Our mission
The Ashraya Initiative for Children is dedicated to improving the lives and shaping the futures of vulnerable children in Pune, India by advancing educational opportunities, nurturing holistic development and building healthy, empowered communities.
Our programs
We operate four main programs :
- the Residential Program, housing twelve orphaned and abandoned street children.
- the Education Outreach Program providing education for more than 200 children from Denotified (Criminal) Tribe slums.
- the Health Outreach Program, promoting improved health in the slums through health education, medical care and community mobilization.
- the Community Outreach Program focusing on community building and development through legal advocacy workshops, adult literacy classes, vocational training and micro-credit savings groups.
