Mithun Mukherjee, Social Media Manager
Mithun spent his childhood in various parts of India but has lived a majority of his growing years in Pune since the early nineties. An undergraduate alum of the Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT), Mithun moved from Pune to Rochester, NY in 2002 to earn a masters degree in electrical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He also holds an MBA in marketing and finance from the University of Rochester. Professionally, he is involved in university technology transfer at the University of Rochester Medical Center, assisting in the commercialization of early stage medical research into products for public benefit.
An avid squash enthusiast, Mithun is actively involved in the promotion of amateur squash in the Greater Rochester region. As a board member, tournament director and webmaster for the Rochester Squash Racquets Association (RSRA), Mithun manages the RSRA’s website and social media initiatives at www.squashrochester.org. Currently, Mithun is co-developing FutureSquash, Rochester’s first “urban squash” program, a youth enrichment program for underprivileged, inner city children in Rochester that combines the sport of squash, academic mentoring and community service.
Mithun has a keen interest in website design and the use of online marketing and social media in non-profit program promotion.
In the summer of 2008, Mithun came across the AIC website and learned about the AIC’s efforts in helping streetchildren in Pune. Since then, Mithun and his wife, Maggie, have both been ardent supporters of AIC’s holiday card campaign, promoting it within their own social circle in Rochester. That winter, they traveled home to Pune to visit family for a few weeks. They visited Liz Sholtys and Patrick Mayne at the AIC home one January morning and left with a renewed commitment to volunteer and support AIC's efforts.
